I am making some progress towards reformatting and revising the catalogue. I have found more carvers' seals (e.g. Yû on a Chikanobu print). I am getting confused by Hiroshige reprints. There are so many different seals for the original publishers, and republishers sometimes reproduce the original seals, and sometimes change them. There is probably a whole book on the subject, if anyone had the patience.
I am transferring all the data for prints, publishers, carvers, censor and date seals into an xml database so that the web site can run more smoothly. It should mean that the catalogue is more consistent, better linked and easier to search. I have been reviewing all the prints and have got as far as P120 (shown here). There have been some discoveries along the way, which I intend to write about here. I have found another gyôji seal (one I had not identified before). I have made some corrections to publishers and added several new carvers' and publishers' seals. This may not be exciting, but it is the first steps towards establishing this as a complementary site to our wikispaces site. The new biographies are run off an XML database and are searchable
